When I was a kid, my dad worked at a law firm in Santa Monica that shared a parking lot with Activision. I remember sitting in his car and watching the poorly dressed, greasy-haired game developers go out for lunch. “Look at those freaks,” my dad would say. “Promise me you’ll never be like them.” I am now a professional game developer.

I took an interest in comedy when I realized making jokes was an effective way to get attention. I started writing stories when I noticed people got bored of me talking at them. I started playing video games because of my clinical depression. When I found out there was a way to use all my skillsets in one job — video game writing — I hit the ground running and never looked back.
